Jūrate Bučmytė

Jūrate Bučmytė was born in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1958.

1976-1981 she studied architecture at the Vilnius art Academy. 

She worked as an architect-restorer between 1981 and 1985. 

She has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association and a free-lance artist since 1986.  J.Bučmytė designs furniture, modern jewellery,mini textile, graphic design.

The artist reverted to the watercolour drawings, painting, and ethnic culture studies as of 1986. The prevailing motifs in the artist’s creative work are the old wooden architecture of the Curonian Spit, sceneries of the sea and the lagoon littorals, also, the old town of Vilnius.
