Betsy
Dillard Stroud AWS D. F. NWS is a Signature Member and Dolphin Fellow of the
American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the Rocky
Mountain National Honor Society, and a Life Member of the Arizona Watercolor
Association.
As a painter, watercolor
and acrylic are her main mediums and she especially loves watercolor,
which has idiosyncrasies that are much like her own.
As a former art historian, with a proper
distrust of labeling, she describes herself as an expressionistic, abstract, coloristic
who uses rhythm, layering and pigment to make her statement.
An award winning artist and the author of
three published books, Betsy is now at work on a fourth book and a third of a
book about the painter Joseph Raffael. Her most recent award is the Dr. David
Gale Award in the 2014Western Federation of Watercolor Societies.
In her artist’s statement she writes, “As a
painter, my color is my language, my brush is my voice, and my finished
painting is my testimony. She has
adjudicated over sixty international, national, state, and regional
exhibitions. In 2007, Stroud was one of
28 Americans invited to exhibit in the First International Exhibition of Master
Watercolorists held in the Xiangsu Museum in Nanjing, China.
