ISABELLE CORCKET SFA

Isabelle Corcket joins Applied Arts and craft school in Paris and leads a career of interior designer for ten years, before dedicating her Watercolor painting.
The act of painting is never innocent, the theme, the subject are only pretexts to unveil a sensibility.

Small architectural details daily situations are my chosen subjects.
Through my watercolors I attempt to share not only feeling but also the poetry of these most simple moments…To continue to open one’s eyes to the small details witch allow us above all to experience the poetry of childhood, of memories, the essential being the instant the brush touches the paper, when the gesture and the feeling unite…

You can’t master watercolor, it is a discovery every time...As a medium it is sensitive and capricious. Make a mistake and you have to start again…It has to be “in love” whit it.
The art of watercolor is a form of artistic expression, apart and in its own right…

“I see, I am, I contemplate and each day brings me a wealth of ideas. (…)” V.Hugo

She has been teaching watercolor for 9 years, she has been painting since she was 15 and has been exhibiting since 1999. She became a member of the Societe Francaise de l' Aquarelle (www.sfaquarelle.fr)  four years ago and she is happy to be able to contribute with her art in this great family of watercolor painters.

HANNIE RIEUWERTS

The unpredictable flow of the paint and the colours merging into each other attracted me to watercolour painting 30 years ago. Even now every painting is an adventure, a challenge between the pigments, the water and myself. I love the transparency. That offers the opportunity to create more depth in the colours because of the layers which  can be created. I look for atmosphere and mood in every subject I paint. Light and dark must play a game in all my creations.

I am a member of the Dutch watercolour society ACN and the Belgium AIB. In the past I have won a variety of prizes (of which three were first prizes) by art magazine “Atelier” . Last year a watercolour of mine came second in the Painting of the Year competition in Holland. My work has been exhibited in several locations: last year, amongst others, in Antwerp,  Mons ,  Amsterdam , Utrecht  and The  Hague. In 2013 I was the face of (and on) the  Talens water colour sets in the “ It’s Me “ campaign in 40 countries world-wide in honour of the Van Gogh Year (limited edition).

I have been a member of the jury in 2 watercolour contests of the IWS in 2012 and 2104.

I give watercolour workshops and art classes .

The reasons may vary but she primarily inspires by the city and the urban landscape, as well as water and people. Living things. Motion pictures in one way or another.

MARGARETA PALM

After many years as a teacher, I left Uppsala  for a stimulating environment for my artistry.

I have been drawing as long as I can remember while watercolour painting took me several years to discover.

Watercolour fascinates me and always invites to new challenges and the opportunities are endless. Sometimes I just let the watercolour flow, other times the smallest details are very important.

Nature and old factories inspires me. Rusty objects are there as a reminder of a bygone era and gives me inspiration for new paintings. Burnt Sienna symbolizes the past and Antwerpen, the present. The meeting between these two colors has long appealed to me.

I have shown my drawings and watercolour paintings in galleries and juried exhibitions in Uppsala and Stockholm among others , but also abroad like Estaimbourg, Belgium
The combination of being a teacher and an artist resulted in a book, which is all about inspiring students to write with help of their own paintings.

RICHARD L. PRICE, NEWS

Richard Price is President and Signature Member of the North East Watercolor Society, and a Signature Member of the Central New York Watercolor Society. Born in the state of New York, he loves to paint the many moods of the New York landscape and the Atlantic Coast and the people who live there. He has learned from masters such as Tony Couch, Dominic Distefano, Lalit Masih and Mel Stabin and continues to study the works and writings of other artists.

“I think it is important that the viewer can share the artist’s emotions about a subject. I start with a realistic place or thing and use the color and energy of watercolor to express how the scene feels to me. I continually study design principles, color theories, drawing techniques and the works of other artists to allow me to express these things in new and exciting ways. My goal in painting is to become the best painter I possibly can. Although there is no end to this pursuit, it is a meaningful and long lasting motivation for an artist."

His paintings have won awards in many national and regional exhibitions in the US, including the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors, the North East Watercolor Society International Exhibitions, the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts National Exhibitions, the Cooperstown National Exhibitions and many others. Robert states:
“I have been painting in the watercolor medium for forty years. One of my main objectives in watercolor painting is to create light through the use of shadow. In painting ordinary images, I find a fascinating interplay between the two. The transparency of the medium helps in bringing shadows alive while allowing the light to glow.

My recent paintings have emphasized close focus features of a particular subject giving the piece an almost abstract quality, with great attention placed on composition and value. I’ve also been exploring portraiture and figurative works. One of my objectives is to transform mundane, everyday scenes into beautiful works of art.”

LIM BEE TAT

Lim Bee Tat was born in Malaysia.   In 1996, he began a series of watercolor paintings themed "Fishing Village".  However, he felt that the work failed to illustrate the feelings he wanted to express.  In the search for inspiration, he decided to fully immerse himself in the beauty of Chinese classical music.  He tried to seek for ways to extract his innermost feelings and express these diverse emotions through music.  He hoped that these skills and emotions could be applied to his paintings.

About a decade, he played the two-stringed Chinese fiddle, Erhu, and with it set up his own unique painting style.  In his paintings, he tried to use different color tones to express different moods, it was as if by using different tones would capture the audience's sentiments.  He used exquisite brushwork to outline the scenery, occasionally also uses the color spilled method to tell the story behind the paintings.  He has learnt to be good at using appropriate space to let a person have more thinking room.

Recently, Lim has adopted dripping technique to illustrate his old days memories, his artwork are awaiting to be freely interpreted.  You can find more of his artworks at http://www.facebook.com/watercolor.limbeetat

Lim has participated in numerous exhibitions all over the world and he has won many International awards including Outstanding Watercolor award, January 2014 BoldBrush Painting Competition; Dick Blick Award, the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society International Watermedia 2013 "Legacy", Colorado, USA; Shortlist Award, 18th Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition of Thaichung City, Taiwan; The H. CLAUDE CARRETTA

A lover of drawing, I discovered watercolor in 1990 and I gradually developped a passion for the colors’game and the freedom with which the water disperses pigments and creates unexpected effects.

I'm looking mostly for atmospheres, highlighted in the first stage of creation, then, I give rise to the light in its full force by opposition with contrasts.

I strive to paint a range of topics to suit my interests: flowers, autumn leaves, rural and urban landscapes or marine themes.

I worked with the Belgian-Canadian master Roland Palmaerts, who appointed me Maître PALM'ARTS in May 2010.

I  was also 6 years long  president  of  the association Aquarelle Reims Evénement that works to promote watercolor by regular international exhibitions in REIMS, chief town of CHAMPAGNE.

Selected since 2008 for various international  exhibitions of watercolor  in Europe (France, Belgium, Greece and Bulgaria), I presented my works on several occasions  in Quebec and in the USA.

David was born in the Industrial heartland of England, but now makes his home in the rural countryside of Shropshire. Over the years he has won many awards and accolades for the precision and craftsmanship of his pure watercolour paintings. In 2010 he was elected a full member of the exclusive Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, (the R.I.) who’s Patron is H.M.Queen Elizabeth. In 2012 he became a signature member of the National Watercolor Society of America (N.W.S). David has works in collections worldwide, has been the subject of  numerous articles in the art press and has authored two books on drawing techniques.

“I love to zoom in on abandoned corners or overlooked machinery, and  am continuously drawn to things and places that have worked hard for a living. These objects and scenarios seem to imbue something of the men that created them. Not just content to make things that were fit for purpose they also harbour a living character and aesthetic harmony which is both joyous and soulful .To capture the reality and essence of these moments in time, as nature reclaims them for her own, I consciously leave nothing out, and put nothing in, that is not there. I do this out of respect for those that have enriched our world with their astute craftsmanship.”

The day is gone, pure watercolour
